Acknowledgements of the great people who have influenced this organization

We would like to take this time to give recognition to some very special people and our good friends. If not for them, this site would not have been possible. Namely, the legendary Soke John B. Burkhardt for his accomplishments in his life as a martial artist so this story can be told and that of his Master Instructor Henry Slomanski.

We wanted to give our sincere thanks and appreciation to Soke John B. Burkhardt and his wife Judy. Judy is the strength behind all of us and the voice of reason; we love her immensely. We would like to thank Judy for the many years of friendship, her guidance, and countless hours on the phone, and her gracious hospitality at their home when we all visit. This site would not be possible if it were not for the time that John and Judy spend with us making sure all the details and information is accurate and true. History is best told from first hand sources with true knowledge in order to put forth the correct information. The leading and foremost experts on Henry Slomanski are John and Judy Burkhardt as it pertains to the martial arts.  Besides John being the only living master instructor under Slomanski, and the only one who controls this history, it’s rank and polices legally, as it was handed down to him by Slomanski when he retired and found his religious life. John and Judy have spent years connecting with people around the world and doing research so the story can be told. They will forever, have a very special place in our hearts, as well a Chopper too, we now add Buddy to our list.

All of the content used on this site has the expressed permission of Soke John B. Burkhardt and his wife Judy, who are the rightful owners for which we are grateful. There is no other person who has more experience and expertise in this history of Henry Slomanski in the martial arts other than John Burkhardt. Many made fraudulent claims but the facts remain as well as our structure and hierarchy. This lineage is governed and over seen by Soke Burkhardt, and the Soke has the final say so on what goes on.

A very special thanks to Sensei Daneen Whinna for her tireless efforts and her hours of training in this style.  She has a total devotion to Henry Slomanski history and what he was in the past, which she is connected to by her training and this lineage, she is also devoted to the Soke/Grand Master, and his wife Judy as well. Daneen certainly gives up so much of her personal time to do all of this. Daneen is the first woman to earn a senior grade belt and the only one, under the “old style” rules, to ever train this way. She is at the point where she is in the annuals of history being the first female senior grade black belt. This is unbelievable in such a brutal hard style, and we all are so proud of her for this and grateful for everything she does to honor Henry Slomanski past history  Henry would be proud of her abilities said Soke Burkhardt! Burkhardt said he was proud to be the one to promote her and knew Henry was smiling from above on all of us, who is involved in this art and training.

We would be remiss if we did not thank Alyssa Whinna for her assistance in getting the first website up and running in the beginning. We want to thank her now for understanding all the hours her sister and father devote to this, while she remains supportive. She has forgone innumerable opportunities for valuable family time so her sister and father may honor and train under the Henry Slomanski. lineage, now the Burkhardt lineage We thank her, and truly understand what she has given of herself without ever questioning it. This website has certainly been a collage of ideas from many people and we thank those who have given up their time as well.

As we embark on a deeper harder mission or endeavor doing the John Burkhardt story, we will still need all of the continued assistance and ideas of our past and present supporters.  We have certainly grown exponentially in the last year and many people have joined our cause!!!  We are making huge progress in unveiling the story and it has been largely successful thus far but the best is yet to come. We are so pleased with the new contacts we’ve made and are still making.  Several personal past friends of Henry Slomanski who were in the Army with him are in constant contact with us furnishing  so much details personal history and pictures. It is wonderful hearing stories from soldiers who trained, jumped and socialized with him off duty. Henry was certainly a man who enjoyed life and the ladies when not working as a soldier, some day the stories will be told and the new photos we have, will be  shown. As of now we are enjoying them and savoring the stories. It’s amazing when people in there mid 70’s share such vivid details and their photos with us that we know for certain most have have not heard of. New photos will be published and new stories told, even the dark ones, but the truth is the truth and legal issues will force these stories to be told. For those of you who know the story behind what is transpiring we thank you for your continued support and understanding of it craziness. As many have said we know Henry would not be please with the actions of others.

We at Mugoi Gijutsu Karate Do would like to express our sincere and deepest thanks to a dear friend of ours, and her husband Charlie for their concentrated efforts on promoting Henry Slomanski’s profound legacy and the story of how the art evolves now into MuGoi GiJutsu and it’s Grand Master. Just as it was passed down to Henry upon death, it was passed down to Burkhardt upon Slomanski resigning and passing on of his authority. They were able to secure a two week, two part newspaper feature in the Tennessee Newspaper. This valuable article depicting the true facts and status of a legendary martial artist, Henry Slomanski, is priceless to our organization and the world. It shows how the arts continue and are passed on. What we know is our history and lineage that we fully intend to carrying on into eternity. Gloria and Charlie Wolf  spent several days doing research for us and gave up their valuable family time with one another, as they both took on this endeavor. Charlie and Glory had also given up valuable time with their grandchildren to do this.  We recognize this and thank both of  you for it.
Through Gloria and Charlie’s research, we are now able to dedicate a full page featuring astounding facts for the world to see. This article has furthered the work toward the upcoming Hollywood Motion Picture being worked on as we speak about John Burkhardt and his martial arts training. This is a major undertaking for the 4 people who are leading the entire team from around the world.   We would like to thank Susan Slomanski- Flippen, one of Henry’s daughters, for furnishing us with a  clearer copy. of what we had previously already had in our possession. She sent it to us from a 3rd person who we are no longer affiliated with due to our legal issues that the court will resolve in time, Susan wanted to make sure the world would be able to see it, she knew this project was important to the Burkhardt’s and the Whinna’s. Thanks you Susan.

Gloria and Charlie, thank you so much for what you have done for us, unselfish and noble actions are the most radiant pages in the biography of Henry Slomanski teachings to John Burkhardt.  Both of your work has helped garnish many reactions and actions from those in the world looking for more truthful information about this great man. The movie is now one step closer to in the process, thanks to the both of you!!! We are very grateful!

Last, but by no means the least, we want to thank our screen writer who is a major Hollywood screenwriter for all of his support and understanding. He is the person who is putting the John Burkhardt screen play together and his martial arts training under Henry Slomanski and will be responsible for it coming to the big screen or a book. Henry Slomanski retired from the martial arts and turned over his history and lineage to Burkhardt via phone call to him and Mevin L Sauer. This is an interesting part of the story how one man can fight his way to the top and through trials and tribulation of life walk away turning all he earned over to his youngest Master Instructor. He was never known and never given credit for what he did.  In today’s world of martial arts, most could not care less about the past history of a person or style but only of the people who are still present and alive carrying on the traditions of any martial art, just like that of our Soke.  This retirement of Slomanski ended the contract Slomanski had with the Emperor of Japan along with his rank in the world. Henry went on to find a religious life and closed the door on the martial arts. Burkhardt took over governing this style as Slomanski said; he would never let his Instructors down and NEVER wanted to see this history end. Burkhardt has carried it on since the passing of Melvin L. Sauer.  In the enormous world of the marital arts and the popularity today and the MMA the only one in the world who can carry on the history and story, and has all of the authority on Henry Slomanski in the martial arts is Soke John B. Burkhardt! Passed down from Slomanski to Sauers to Burkhardt. There is no one else, unless they are telling second hand stories or rumors. Burkhardt is the leading expert under Slomanski  and this style and has been recognized throughout the world as such. Many exciting things are still coming in the real near future. This will all be done for free and of no charge. It will be done to let the world know of the training under Slomanski and how he produced a legendary martial artist in John Burkhardt. This lineage  said Slomanski retired and walk away due to injuries sustain in the military. However, he left some phenomenal master instructors to carry it on while he took on a more peaceful occupation in the ministry. Slomanski could have been a legend for eternity had he not walked away. and quit. In fact, he never told some of his family members he was involved in karate, they had no clue until after his death. He knew the style and teachings were in the safe hands of Burkhardt, and he is the sole one carrying this on today. This was shared via a phone call to Burkhardt from Slomanski himself. Burkhardt is honoring what his Master’s wishes were, doing it proudly and honorably as was Slomanski in the arts and wanted him to do.

Although there are many controversial issues of Slomanski’s personal life from those who knew him and were kind enough to share them with us, and the communications we have had with so many, we are only focusing on the martial arts life, what he learned, and taught to Burkhardt and the other masters.

This site shares documents and photos, with Soke/Grand Master John Burkhardt, that have never been seen until the last few years.  Watch for the new updated pictures.  Soke Burkhardt will be working on his sister site soon to make it current in the Spring of 2013. Therefore, there will be no outdated details nor facts and the information we always knew will substantiated with indisputable evidence will be shown by him.  When certain materials were given as gifts and donated to Soke Burkhardt, it was the Soke who first brought them to light for the world to see. They were presented to him for the use of only two people as per our written correspondence from the provider, they are Soke John Burkhardt and Hanshi Lester Whinna.

If we forgot to mention anyone at this time we did not do this intentionally and we apologize. Some names and credits have been left out, for the respect of the people who requested to remain anonymous and not have their names published on this site.

With great thanks and warm regards,
Mugoi Gijutsu Karate Do
